  Flower Girl’s Girl Star has been long discussed and conceptualized by band members but never realized until now due to the enormous amount of time involved to complete such an undertaking. With the pandemic and its accompanying shut down, suddenly free time is in abundance and Flower Girl has taken advantage.
  
  
  
  As the band dutifully records everything, Girl Star is culled from hundreds of hours of Flower Girl rehearsals between 2016 and 2020. It’s no secret by now that Flower Girl has a penchant for space jamming. With a nod to Grayfolded, (John Oswald's epic amalgamation of the Dead's Dark Star performances through the years) the band weaves and intertwines several of these passages into a 70 minute interstellar journey. Girl Star is essentially a study of Flower Girl’s softer side. It is the calm before the storm and the quiet once the squall has abated. It runs a gamut of emotion, often peaceful and content and just as often sinister and intense. It is at times brooding, at times playful. It captures the band (now 16 years into its own long, strange trip) submerged deep in the narcotic buzz of its comfort zone. Thought is suspended. The outside world is closed off.
